Overland Track, Tassie - here I come

On Wednesday morning at 7am I fly to Tassie to do the Overland Track. It will be six days of wilderness and I can't wait. No phones, no power, no schedule.





Today I did some gear shopping and realised this obsession with hiking is not a cheap one! The picture shows some gear I brought today and no much change out of $500 bucks.

Sunday's adventure...

This great little walk/climb/scramble is one of my favourite. It’s so close to Brisbane yet far enough away to feel like you have escaped the city. It does have a few tricky bits that get the heart pumping but it is very doable. Enjoy!

2 Day Top Rope Climbing Course

Well I have just completed a 2 Day Top Rope Climbing Course and now I am 'competent' to setup a Top Rope Climb and Abseil. All I need now is the $600 bucks to buy the gear!
I would recommend this course, it was good stuff.

Moogerah Peaks National Park (1.5 hrs out of Brisbane)

Well this year for New Years Eve I had the usual options; a party or Southbank. Instead I decided to try out some of my new camping/hiking gear (preparing to do the Overland Track in Tassie in a few weeks), and I headed out bush.

The Mount French Section of the Moogerah Peaks National Park is a nice little camping ground. I was actually the only one in the camp ground. Kinda cool and kinda freaky!

If your after a quick get away without the crowds I would recommended this place. It has two small walks with great views. Great place to recharge quickly.
